The suffering of those affected is a particular obligation for me and my employees at the Traffic Directorate in our road safety work. That is why sustainable road traffic control and monitoring measures are complemented by a wide range of prevention measures that cover all age groups and the various ways of participating in road traffic - whether walking, cycling or driving.
In the Traffic Directorate, all traffic accident specialists - traffic accident investigation, processing, traffic accident analysis, road safety advice, traffic planning, traffic monitoring and victim protection - work together closely and in a coordinated manner under a single management team.
We want fewer people to be involved in road traffic accidents. We are doing everything we can to achieve this within the scope of our legal and actual possibilities.
The Traffic Directorate is divided organizationally into three traffic inspectorates with 15 individual offices:
Traffic Inspection 1
Traffic Inspectorate 1 works in the field of preventive and repressive traffic accident prevention.
- Traffic service
- Traffic accident prevention, victim protection
- ET Traffic
The traffic inspection 2
Traffic Inspectorate 2 handles all traffic accidents as well as misdemeanors and criminal offenses related to road traffic.
- VK 1 - Traffic accident processing
- PC 2 - Processing of serious traffic accidents
- PC 3 - Traffic offenses
- PC 4 - Criminal offenses with an impact on road safety
- VK 5 - Administrative offenses involving technical procedures and commercial passenger and goods transport
- VK 6 - Traffic accident investigation team
Traffic Inspection 3
Traffic Inspectorate 3 handles all operations on federal highways and highway-like roads and is also responsible for road safety work in this area.
Four permanently manned freeway police stations are located in Bensberg, St. Augustin, Broichweiden and Frechen.
To combat crime on the freeways in the administrative district, in particular to combat mobile groups of offenders who commit burglaries, there is a central task force in Frechen. Two additional traffic services are available at the Bensberg and Frechen sites to reduce traffic accidents and monitor traffic on the freeways.
Employees of Traffic Inspectorate 3 who are specially trained in the field of heavy goods traffic ensure safety on the freeways and in the city region in connection with commercial goods and passenger transport vehicles.
