To process your emergency call quickly and efficiently, it is very important for the police to have the following information:

When did it happen?
State the time or period of the incident as precisely as possible.

Who is involved?
Give details of the perpetrator, victim and witnesses. If unknown, describe the people involved.

Emergency fax for people with speech / hearing impairments
Most authorities have special fax numbers to which people with speech/hearing impairments can send a fax in an emergency. You can download a form on the right-hand side of the page. These faxes are handled by the control centers in the same way as an emergency call.

Citizens can use the emergency number "110" to get quick and effective help from the police in emergency situations around the clock. At the police control centers, telephone computers signal the highest priority to specially trained police officers in these cases.
All necessary information from those seeking help is recorded immediately and automatically checked for plausibility using a special computer system. After a tactical assessment by the police officers at the control center, radio patrol cars are dispatched to provide assistance - as close to the scene as possible.
While the radio patrol car drives to the scene, all other necessary measures are coordinated in parallel at the control center. For example, additional police support units are dispatched or the deployment of emergency services is arranged via the fire department.

The SMS will be sent to a fax machine.
There are two options for the SMS procedure:
1. from a cell phone via SMS with area code 99:
Formulate your message by SMS, dial the number 99 0221/2292292 and send your SMS.
After a short time, you will receive the message back by SMS: "Your SMS was successfully transmitted." or "Your SMS could not be transmitted."
2. encrypted from the cell phone via SMS:
Formulate your message by SMS, dial the number 0221 229-2292.
Before you send the message, change your sending options on the mobile device and select the "Sent as fax" option. The transmission will not be confirmed.

The time required to send a text message to a fax machine varies and depends on how busy the mobile network is at the time. Short-term processing by the police is therefore not always guaranteed. There may be delays.
Messages for the fire department can also be sent to the police. the fire department will then be notified by the police.
